The BUG called DOTA

We are so lucky for being part of this high-tech generation; we have our computers, laptops, iPods and PSPs, in addition we also have internet which enable us to connect on different types of social networking sites and online games. We can’t deny the fact that we are greatly favored by the world. But some of the people didn’t know how to manage and remain affected by some enticement that can hardly resist.

Majority of our teenagers specially the boys are infected with the bug called DOTA. Some even got carried away and addicted by the said bug.

What is DOTA by the way? Well well well…. According to Wikipedia DOTA (Defense of the Ancients) is an action real-time mod for the videogame Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. The objective of the scenario is for each team to destroy the opponent’s ancients, heavily guarded structures at the opposing corners of the map. Players use useful units known as heroes and assisted by allied heroes and AI-controlled fighters.

Every time I heard some teenage boys saying: “DOTA ta bai!” I can’t help myself but to grin especially when I know they are still students. I know where it leads by the way. I can foresee; a student lack of sleep, can’t perform well in school due to destruction of long hours of stay in front of the computer screen, and some might suffer from “hunger strike” due to immediate deficient allowances, for they are working all day at internet cafes, spending time on virtual world. Others even neglect their studies and some of them get hold of the failing grades.

How about the teenage girls? Of course I will never forget to mention that some of them got annoyed with their partners who are infected by the said bug. They are envious because their boyfriends have much time at internet cafes than catching a visit on their quarters. Then immediately declaring “UYABA NG DOTA MO!” and ooooopss…AWAY NA YAN (THE WORLD WAR III BEGINS)! 🙂

Honestly speaking there’s no problem on playing online games. Hey girls! Don’t be so immature on comparing yourself to DOTA; DOTA is just a game on a virtual world and you? YOU are reality! Yes you are! So please don’t argue with them if they’re playing and having fun, just let them be. All you have to do is to remind and guide them, let them know their limitations and of course understand their pleasures.

And for the boys (especially STUDENTS!!) know your limits!! Yes, virtual world gives pleasure, relieved stressed and gives satisfaction, but always keep in mind that it’s about you and your health matters most. Don’t let it get into your nerves like you can’t live without it. Don’t allow the bug to use and manipulate your system it might ruin not only your entire being but also your future destination.

How about you? Are you infected with the said bug? Well get some Avast-antivirus and perform an in-depth scan of your ENTIRE SYSTEM. 🙂

My Father’s Terrible Experience

Way back on the year 1977, he was studying at Father Urios Academy High School, Hinatuan Surigao Del Sur. Because of their school activities he didn’t noticed it was already late in the evening. He hurriedly fixed his things and decided to go home alone. While walking, clash of moonlight and darkness rolled the entire street. The rain started to fall. He stops at the middle of the dark street to find a place where he could shed his self. Fortunately he found a small house. He knocked the door three times but there was no response. He sneaks a quick look what’s inside using the window but no one’s there, except for the dying candle.

The rain drops became more rigid. Suddenly, he heard the sound of a crying baby. He was crept with conflicting feelings. Unexpectedly a big cat jump towards his direction. He found his self running nervously, trying to stay away from that creepy cat.

The darkness must have triumphed over light for the night was dark and gloomy. He sensed something uncertainties. As he glanced back, a terrible shock engulfed his body for he can’t believe what he saw. He doesn’t even know what kind of creature it is. For a second instance, an echo of a crying baby seeps into his ears. He screamed loudly and ran, but everything is crammed with gloominess. Eerie shadows of the trees covered his path. Mixed emotions rolled on his entire soul. He just thought that this will be his end; He just uttered a prayer “In the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit”.  And he ran as fast as he could.

When he arrived home, he lost his consciousness. As he woke up, he told his parents what happened. And they also told him the story behind that house; there was a pregnant lady died, because she was failed to deliver her baby.

Upon hearing the story he was frightened and told his self to never walk alone at night on that street. He just thanks God and expressed gratitude, because he is still alive. Indeed it was a terrible experienced he’d ever had.

The Creator of Destiny

Do you know what Destiny means? How about the choice?

Today, millions of people around the world are fraught in their daily living. Some struggles for survival; the sick, street children, hopeless mother, homeless people; and others move violently to defeat their enemy. When you hear the word destiny what comes into your mind? Fate? Providence? Future? Have you tried to think about your own destiny? Now, if you have your so-called destiny then what will be the purpose of your sacrifices?

They said that our destiny was already written. So if we die pitiful then that’s our destiny? Concisely no matter how we try to achieve our goals, no matter how we put our mind into something, no matter how we sought to aim high and be victorious in the near future, all of those are ineffective and useless if our life script has already been written on a paper.

Undeniably all of us are clueless when it comes to our future. Some people hastily saying: “Kung kami ang para sa isa’t isa, kami talaga magkakatuluyan baling araw.”Is it proper? Is it factual to say that if you’re really meant for each other then no matter what happens you’re already destined to be together in the upcoming days?

I end up thinking, is it really destiny that plays the role? How about our so-called choices? How are you going to be together if you don’t pursue what you are aiming for? How would you say you can be together if you got no endeavor?

Hopeless people keep saying: “this is what our destiny is, to become poor until we depart this life.” Those people misinterpreted the real meaning of destiny. They just believe in a false providence. If they only have their knowledge on how to live a better life, well, then they might as well get what they really wanted, but if they can’t, then maybe their efforts might not be sufficient.

Indeed, we have our DESTINY! Yes! We have! That destiny is the result of our own choices in life. If others choose to have a divorce with their partners then that’s their choice. If someone chooses to do awful things instead of doing well, then that’s also a choice. See? It’s not about saying that’s their destiny or that’s where they belong, sometimes we really have to consider what destiny is all about.

God provides us everything and it’s up to us on how we’re going to use those things properly. God said “he knows our future.” Yes! Absolutely, if we have him in our heart and if we let him in our life, if we have faith in him, indeed he knows our futures destination. Lord is just guiding and always reminding us to do good and always follow his commands for you to have a marvelous future.

As a final point, we are the maker of our own image and course in life. Choosing good will always be counted; choosing bad will always be ignored. WE ARE THE CREATOR, MAKER, DESIGNER, and AUTHOR of our own DESTINY. We make our own destiny.

According to Wikipedia destiny – is a predetermined course of events. It may be conceived as a predetermined future, whether in general or of an individual. It is a concept based on the belief that there is a fixed natural order to the cosmos.

Doing Great

1. Concentrate Your Forces

Conserve your forces and energies by keeping them concentrated at their strongest point.  You gain more by finding a rich mine and mining it deeper, than by flitting from one shallow mine to another – intensity defeats extensity every time.

2. Make your Accomplishments Seem Effortless

Your actions must seem natural and executed with ease.  All the toil and practice that go into them, and also all the clever tricks, must be concealed.  When you act, act effortlessly, as if you could do much more.  Avoid the temptation of revealing how hard you work – it only raises questions.  Teach no one your tricks or they will be used against you.

3. Re-Create Yourself

Do not accept the roles that society foists on you.  Re-create yourself by forging a new identity, one that commands attention and never bores the audience.  Be the master of your own image rather than letting others define if for you.  Incorporate dramatic devices into your public gestures and actions – your power will be enhanced and your character will seem larger than life.

4. Never appear too perfect

Appearing better than others is always dangerous, but most dangerous of all is to appear to have no faults or weaknesses.  Envy creates silent enemies.  It is smart to occasionally display defects, and admit to harmless vices, in order to deflect envy and appear more human and approachable.  Only gods and the dead can seem perfect with impunity.

5. Strike the Shepherd and the Sheep will scatter

Trouble can often be traced to a single strong individual – the stirrer, the arrogant underling, the poisoned of goodwill.  If you allow such people room to operate, others will succumb to their influence.  Do not wait for the troubles they cause to multiply, do not try to negotiate with them – they are irredeemable.  Neutralize their influence by isolating or banishing them.  Strike at the source of the trouble and the sheep will scatter.
